While we are certain that Chihuahuas were employed in Aztec worship rites, there's no proof to date that any were eaten. Captains, friends and others who worked on board ships in the California of the middle to late 1800's found Chihuahua dogs to be superb companions. When it becomes too hot, Chihuahuas are always glad to enjoy their owner's air con. In areas where it's legal, Chihuahuas walk obediently near their owners without a leash. These are thought to be the most traditional of all dog breeds still existing today.
